Enough is enough, it is time that the Federal government stop skirting its responsibility on the environment. Take a minute out of your day to sign the below petition to government.
Petition to the House of Commons
Whereas the current climate crisis is real and poses a threat to the heath and welfare of all generations of Canadians; and
Whereas Canada's per capita greenhouse gas emissions are some of the highest in the industrialized world; and
Whereas the Federal government of Canada ratified international agreements to lower carbon emissions and has not met these obligations; and
Whereas the Federation government of Canada continues to take negligible steps to lower green house gas emissions key to curbing global warming.
WE THE UNDERSIGNED RESIDENTS OF CANADA CALL UPON THE HOUSE OF COMMONS TO:
increase federal funding for public transit to improve accessibility and service, and adopt initiatives to encourage its use;
invest in a clean energy future that will create green jobs and build new industries, revitalizing our economy;
adopt official sustainability standards for new public buildings and require energy audits and energy efficiency standards (such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for all public buildings;
invest in the study and implementation of renewable energy to reduce Canada’s reliance on non renewable, carbon intensive energy sources;
commit to funding sustainability initiatives on university and college campuses; and
adopt measures to minimize the impacts of climate change on people and ecosystems here and abroad.
